How to configure excluded words in product search

Configure excluded words in Indexa: remove unnecessary words from customer queries and check that your store's search results remain accurate.

What excluded words do

Excluded words are ignored during search. For example, “buy” can be unnecessary in “buy smartphone”.

Excluded words do not hide catalog products. If a product should not appear, check its data and availability settings instead.

Set up excluded words

  1. Open “Search settings → Minus words”.

  2. Select the language in which shoppers use these words.

  3. Add a word and confirm it with Enter.

  4. Save and compare queries with and without the word.

Check after changes

Test queries where the word carries meaning, including product names. Remove it from the list if the results get worse.
