Connect your own search integration with an Indexa API key

Create and revoke a key#

Open “API” in the dashboard and check that your plan allows API keys. Generate a key, copy it and give it only to the developer responsible for your integration.

Revoking or generating a replacement key stops integrations using the previous key. Update them with the new key. Keep keys out of public website code, repositories and chat messages. The ordinary Indexa widget uses its own installation code and does not require this API key.

Authenticate a request#

Send the key in the X-API-Key header of each API request, for example X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY. In the “How to use” block of the API page, copy the cURL search example and replace the placeholder on your server. Select the language of your catalog and a test query; never place the secret key in browser JavaScript.
