How to add smart search to Joomla / VirtueMart

Prepare the catalog and code#

   Connect your product feed in Indexa and wait for the catalog to load.

   In “Widget → Integration”, enter the website URL and copy the universal code.

Add the search code to Joomla / VirtueMart#

   Use your template's global head-code field if it has one.

   Otherwise, open templates/TEMPLATE_NAME/index.php. Back up the file and use a child or custom template where possible.

   Add the complete Indexa script before </head>, preserving the existing jdoc:include elements.

   Save the template and clear the Joomla cache if it is enabled.

Check search after installation#

Open your store, then use “Check installation” in Indexa. Select the desktop and mobile search elements and save.

Search for a product, follow its link and close the widget. Repeat on the home, category and product pages.

If some pages use another template, check them separately. Recheck installation after template updates.
