Connect store search events to GA4 through GTM
Connect Indexa search and product-click events to GA4: dataLayer settings, Google Tag Manager installation, publishing and verification.
Enable search events
In “Widget → Integration”, open “Event tracking”. Enable dataLayer, keep its name as dataLayer unless your site uses another name, and select the events to send. Save the settings.
indexa_search sends a search query and result count; indexa_product_click sends clicked-product details. These settings do not automatically track purchases or cart actions. Searches from ignored IP addresses do not send these analytics events. Availability depends on your plan.
Install GA4 tags
Confirm that the correct GTM container is already installed on your website. In the event-tracking block, connect Google Tag Manager, select the store workspace and enter the GA4 Measurement ID, such as G-XXXXXXXXXX. Choose “Install analytics”.
Alternatively, download the GTM template and import it into your workspace, review the imported variables, triggers and tags, and set your GA4 Measurement ID. Check that the dataLayer name matches Indexa settings. Existing resources with the same names are not overwritten by automatic installation; review them before publishing.
Publish and verify
Preview your GTM workspace, run a search and click a result on the store website. Verify that the selected Indexa events trigger the intended GA4 tags, then publish the container changes. Check receipt in GA4. For this check, use a browser without blocking extensions and an IP not excluded from statistics; also check the site consent settings if events are missing.
