How to install smart search on your store website

Install Indexa search on your website: copy the widget code, add it to your template or Google Tag Manager and choose search elements for desktop and mobile.

Add the Indexa code

  1. Open “Widget → Integration” and enter your website address.

  2. Copy the universal code from your dashboard. It already includes the information needed for your store.

  3. Add the code to the shared website template before the closing </head> tag.

  4. Publish the changes and return to your dashboard to click “Check installation”.

Install through Google Tag Manager

In “Widget → Integration”, use the Google Tag Manager connection button if it is available for your account.

  1. Connect a Google account that can edit the required container.

  2. Select the container and workspace, then click “Install code”.

  3. Publish the changes in Google Tag Manager. Saving a workspace alone does not publish the code to your website.

  4. Return to Indexa and check the installation.

Choose the search button or field

  1. In “Widget → Integration”, click the button to select the desktop search element.

  2. On your website, select the visible field, button or form that should open search.

  3. Choose a single visible element that shoppers actually use.

  4. Repeat for mobile. Open the mobile menu if needed and use navigation mode to reach the correct element.

  5. Save the selection and check search on both devices.

Check the result

On desktop and mobile, open search, enter a query, follow a product link and close the widget. Check that the usual website buttons still work.

The universal code detects the current page’s language automatically. For a multilingual store, also connect the corresponding feeds and search languages.
